Unlike the ethical, moral, and military quagmire America - and the world - has slogged through for the last five years (gee, thanks Bush, you asshole), this is one War I don't mind hearing for a long time. This particular recording from London already had a half dozen silver CD bootlegs, all from the same FM broadcast of the show that aired at the time, in addition to at least one audience recording and one source that claims to be from the pre-FM master tapes. Woo! Talk about having some history! Twenty-two years later, in 2004, the BBC decided to re-broadcast the show. One tech-savvy listener managed to grab a CD-quality digital recording of that broadcast and shared it with the world on U2Torrents a year later.

As you can imagine, the sound is perfect. There is no hiss or hum that you might find from a soundboard. There is no static or similar artifacts that you might find in unmastered radio rips. You get perfect instruments and vocals with an audience only present in between tracks unless Bono wanted the audience to participate. U2's energy and excitement on stage is apparent, yet they do not suffer any of the performance jitters that are apparent in their handful of prior pre-War concerts. Songs flow non-stop one to the next for the most part, and when they don't you can hear the audience yelling out to bring back the tunes (gotta love an audience that's really into it).

In short, this bootleg is a must-have and easily falls within what I would consider U2's top 10 bootlegs. Get it.

I'd like to see the BBC re-broadcast a whole bunch of U2 shows - like Zoo Dublin, the Twickenham 2005 show etc. But this is great, great work.

I hope this is going to be up for another day at least so I can download it on a faster connection than the cpu I am on now lol. Sounds like a keeper.
