Wow! That was fast. I had the trouble you wrote about, so I tried the alternate download. It downloaded in 1 min. and 12 seconds. How did it do that?

Assuming you did not delete the files and simply started the alternate torrent download, it would have simply completed the files you already had in place.

I had thought that was the case, but I wasn't sure.
Would it be safe to delete the original download? Or would that be a mistake?

I am assuming your "original download" is the only one that should be on your computer. If you grabbed the alternate torrent, it would have started the download ontop of the files you already had. You can get rid of the original .torrent file. Whatever you do, just pay attention so you don't delete something you want.
