It's time once again for me to make a new artist recommendation. So, you kiddies remember Disney's mid-90's movie "Pocahontas"? The voice and likeness of the title character were provided by Irene Bedard. I bet you didn't know that in addition to 42 films, some of which were major motion pictures (including a couple additional stints with Disney), Ms. Bedard is - along with her husband, Deni Wilson - an accomplished singer/song writer. Well, she is, so now you know. My family and I were very fortunate to meet Irene this past weekend. She and Deni and their family were at the
Trickster Gallery in Schaumburg, IL,
to present a pair of her films and perform several songs. The crowd turned out to be much smaller than we expected, in part because it wasn't very well advertised, but that meant we got to spend some actual time talking with her as well as front-row seats to the whole event. Heck, I even made dinner recommendations (Lou Malnati's, great pizza, and just across the street).
