I feel the need to explore the War era today, and I would bet money you'll appreciate it. Today I'm sharing one of those rare gems that has (almost) everything going for it. First, the performance is a solid A+ with energy, enthusiasm, and perfect execution. Second, the sound quality is studio-perfect, with an intangible quality to it that most other soundboard recordings lack. I can't put my finger on it exactly. Soundboards are great but are frequently sterile. This has some... quality... that makes it more alive, not just live. Third, as a silver CD, the bootleg manufacturer packed in some quality bonus tracks. The only time that this recording fails to shine is when Bono tries to get the audience involved, and for some really weird reason the Boston fans simply fail to participate. They don't sing along much if at all, they just cheer in between tracks. You might think the sound engineer is simply failing to adjust the equipment to capture the crowd (you frequently hear them do that on other soundboard bootlegs), but no... Bono has a hard time getting the audience to do anything. Despite this weird crowd behavior, this is one of those recordings that you almost always find on collectors' Top 10 lists. Oh just forget the praise. It's a Top 10 Top Notch Must Have Download Now kind of bootleg. Get it!
