A couple days ago, I received an email from a reader with a fun question: Which concerts did the live tracks on the EP Wide Awake In America come from? Yes, it's true - I have an immensely vast wealth of knowledge about all things U2. It's called Google. ; ) But I was actually surprised to find an excellent answer to that question at Wikipedia of all places. I would have figured some U2 fan site would have been at the top of the list but that was not the case. I know Wikipedia covers a lot of topics, but this was still a neat treat. So the live version of "Bad" came from a performance in Birmingham (1984-11-12) and "A Sort Of Homecoming" was taken from the London show a few nights later (1984-11-15). Naturally curious, I went to my archive to see if I have those dates, and sure enough I do. Indeed, the London show ended up as the silver CD I am sharing with you today.

Thanks. This should be a fun listen!

I always thought A Sort Of Homecoming was from the soundcheck and not an actual show, with the audience put on top of it.

I'm with Gary on this one. I've read that about ASOH from many sources. Thanks for a hopefully great gig though

I'm going to have to agree with you so far about ASOH coming from the soundcheck. I didn't do a comparative listen of the two tracks until this morning and there are differences. Looks like the wikipedia page could use a little tweak.

Great bootleg. It will replace some of the other UF concerts in my library. Thank you!

I never thought my innocent question would prompt a response like this on such a great fansite!!! Thank you Jason for your personal response!! Wikipedia does have some awesome/interesting stuff about our favorite band. Maybe in the future you can put the other show with "Bad" on the tracker? Thanks again!!!!!
