Hello! Welcome to 2009. I felt that for U2unes' first bootleg of the new year it would be a good thing to go way back in time to U2's first tour. So with that in mind, let me share with you this silver CD of their first performance in what was then West Germany. Twenty-eight years have treated this recording fairly well. All the instruments are clear, Bono's vocals are up front. There are some pops and clicks in the sound that lead me to strongly believe that this silver CD was likely produced from a vinyl version that preceded it. I actually like that quality about it. The little noise artifacts make the sound a bit warmer as well as providing a sense of age to the music. The added warmth is needed here, though, because the sound - while good - is still a bit thin, though it compares very well to most good to excellent quality recordings from this time. Typical of the age, U2 repeats a few songs near the end of their set in order to fill up their time, but that seems to be a benefit to the audience here, which was a little too calm at the start of the show but got into it after a while.
